Matthew 5:27-32 ESV
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.
Divorce
31 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

God will not elevate me any higher than the sin I allow to rule over me.
The temptation behind every temptation is to meet a God-given need in a God-forbidden way.
1. Jesus calls us to confront our SELF-FOCUSSED lust. V. 27-30
External Righteousness says, “the law says you shall not commit adultery“
Jesus says, “the law says you should not want to commit adultery”
2. Jesus speaks primarily to men in a male dominated society. V. 28
Lust is about using others for our consumption. It’s about creating relationships in our head. A twisting of desire.
3. Jesus is not talking about being “less sexual” in your marriage. Sexual desire and holiness are not opposites.
Matthew 5:29-30 ESV
29 If your right eye causes you to sin (Greek: skandalon “stumbling block, trap, snare”), tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

4. Jesus doesn't advise band-aids; He commands amputations. V. 29-30
5. Jesus calls us into self-giving love v. 31-32
Marital differences are designed to compliment one another, and give space for us to grow, express, and recieve God’s love.
6. The love of God doesn't remove our desires; it reorders them.
